TikTok
The viral app TikTok has become a big sensation for people of all ages but mainly for the younger audiences.
TikTok is a video sharing app that allows many to upload a video between 1 and 60 seconds. The app is owned by ByteDance, a Beijing based company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming. TikTok launched in September 2016, gaining over 500 million active users since 2019.
This popular app rose to popularity by celebrity endorsements and localized content. Jimmy Fallon played a big part in how much the app grew. In November 2018, he started a challenge section on his show and used TikTok as a platform for the challenge. He did this by urging viewers to roll in tumbleweed and post the video on TikTok using the hashtag “tumbleweed”. The app generates most of its “For You Page” videos by the state the user lives in and the previous content they have watched before. So it is always more likely that while using the app the user will see at least one video by a person living in the same state or region as them.
In conclusion, TikTok is an addictive and entertaining app. It continues to see an enormous rise in users.
