Spreading Christmas Cheer

Need some holiday cheer? Snuggling up and watching a movie should do the trick!

Recently, a poll had been put out on Instagram open to students of Caledonia High School to vote on their favorite Christmas movie between a couple popular movies.

First, students were to vote between Elf and Home Alone. A fan favorite, Will Ferrell, played the main role as Buddy the Elf  in Elf, who was mistakenly taken to the North Pole on Christmas and then raised as one of Santa’s elves. As an adult, he travels back to New York City is search for his father. In Home Alone, bratty 8-year old acts out the night before a Christmas family trip and his mother makes him sleep in the attic. When his family accidentally leaves for vacation without him, he wakes up to a house all to himself.

At the beginning of this poll, Home Alone had taken off with a big lead. But within 24 hours, Elf quickly had a comeback with 61% of people choosing Elf over Home Alone

When asked for other suggestions, there were  a couple options. For example, The Grinch and Christmas Vacation were popular responses. Additionally, the majority of responses commented Polar Express, where a young boy doubts the life of Santa Claus and takes a train to the North Pole, which shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

Surprisingly enough, Elf still out voted Polar Express, more than when compared to Home Alone, at 62%.
