Currently ranked 4th statewide, the Caledonia’s boys and girls Cross Country season is coming to a close. With three gold medals under their belt, Caledonia’s Cross Country team has earned the title of “Regional Champions”.

As this season has progressed, the teams were able to build up stamina during their 2 hour practices five days a week. During training, rain or shine, the boys and girls were out running. Jamin Thompson, a varsity runner, stated “Our practices have a big range of what we do. Sometimes, we do fast, tough workouts like intervals, and sometimes we do long runs, like 8 milers, at a really slow pace. Some days can be tough, but our whole team usually feels pretty good, since we all feel like brothers. It really tests our mental and physical toughness, but we encourage each other, and help each other get through it.”

After winning the 2019 MSU invite, the TK invite and the Otsego invite, Caledonia’s varsity runner, Lindsey Peters stated, “It is such an amazing feeling knowing all the hard work we have put in throughout the summer and this season is paying off.” Considering their three gold medals and a state ranking of fourth, the cross country teams earned their honors.
